Since adopting a primal / paleo lifestyle I have discovered raw cacao. What a wonderful discovery. It’s quite different in flavour to the normal supermarket brands of cocoa powder I have had in the past. It has a nice sweetness, and no bitter taste and is rich in anti-oxidants.
All cocoa has anti-oxidants, right? Not right!
I discovered recently that cocoa that has been processed in the normal way (using heat) has had most of it’s anti-oxidant value destroyed. Disappointing? No, not really because the raw cacao is soooooo much nicer. I’d never go back to the others now. Try it and see.
